2021 Kings Soccer Referee Training

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE MESSAGE.

This training prepares a referee for all levels of SAY.

REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

In order to register, email Deb at [email protected] with subject line "Referee Training Registration".

In the body of the email, provide your name, age, birthday, and best contact number.

The cost for training is $20 per person for new referees; $15 per person for returning referees.
Cash or check payable to Kings Soccer Club is due at field training.

Training certifies a referee to work 1 year (2 full seasons).

For full information on the Kings Referee program, please go here
https://www.kingssoccer.org/Default.aspx?tabid=204982.

You must be at least 13 by September 1st to take the class.

This information is for new referees aged 13 – adult and for current referees who have been refereeing 2 years or less.

This year training will involve online modules followed by an online, open book test.
After the test is passed, new referees must attend one of the field trainings and pay your fee to complete your certification.

1. Online training modules:

https://www.saysoccer.org/Default.aspx?tabid=971619

Please complete the 5 sections and review the Laws of the Game before taking the test.
It is recommended you review these modules on a desktop or laptop, as the mobile experience is not optimal.

2. Once you feel ready, take the online test.  It is an open book test, so take your time.
The online test can be found here.
https://www.saysoccer.org/Default.aspx?tabid=733804

If you want to only referee 6U-8U, take SAY Entry Referee Test (EL-7).
If you want to referee 10U and above, take SAY Intermediate Referee Test (IL-1).
You must pass the test on the first try, so please be sure you prepare before you attempt it.

After you pass your test, please email me your score and what field training you will be able to attend.
You can not attend field training if you have not completed online training and testing, so please plan accordingly.

3. Field Training Times-pick ONE

PLEASE REGISTER for the time that you will attend.

If there is a session no one signs up for, I will not hold that session.
Also, check the kingssoccer.org website for field closure info.  If the fields are closed or if there is inclement weather, the session will not be held.
I know these times may not work for all, but please remember I am a volunteer and have other commitments.  Hopefully everyone interested in becoming a referee will find one session that will work for them.

Referees earn $15-45 per game for Kings’ game which range in age from 6U-19U.

Every year we have interested parties who have scheduling conflicts with training, unfortunately due to the amount of content and the time commitment, Kings does not have any alternate training opportunities scheduled. Hopefully by offering most of the training online, it will allow enough flexibility for you to complete the training in your own time.

Also, if you are USSF certified for 2021, please send me proof of certification and you will be permitted to referee for the Kings Soccer Club.

Any person who wants to become a referee must attend a training class, regardless of age or experience level.
