This information is for new referees.
This year training will involve online training and 2 nights of classroom training followed by an online test and a field training to be completed later.
1. Before the first night of class, review the online training modules Sections 1-5:
https://www.saysoccer.org/Default.aspx?tabid=971619
Please complete the 5 sections.
It is recommended you review these modules on a desktop or laptop, as the mobile experience is not optimal.
2. Attend the referee class being held on 2/24 & 2/25 from 6:30-8:30 in the Kings Junior High Multipurpose room.
The cost for training is $20 per person for new referees; $15 per person for returning referees.
Cash or check payable to Kings Soccer Club is due first night of class.
Please bring something to write with & a whistle.
If you have an attendance issue with either night, please send Deb an email at [email protected]. There can be some flexibility. However, if you do not attend both nights of class, you must pass the online test in order to referee, even at the instructional (6U) level.
3. Once you feel ready, take the online test. It is an open book test, so take your time.
Test information will be sent out after the second night of class.
You must pass the test on the first try, so please be sure you prepare before you attempt it.
Current Referees who need to recertify will receive an email with your requirements.

After you pass your test, please email me your score and what field training you will be able to attend. You can not attend field training if you have not attended class and passed the online testing, so please plan accordingly.
If there is a session no one signs up for, I will not hold that session. Also, check the kingssoccer.org website for field closure info. If the fields are closed or if there is inclement weather, the session will not be held.
I know these times may not work for all, but please remember I am a volunteer and have other commitments. Hopefully everyone interested in becoming a referee will find one session that will work for them.
Referees earn $20-45 per game for Kings’ game which range in age from 6U-19U.
Every year we have interested parties who have scheduling conflicts with training. Unfortunately due to the amount of content and the time commitment, Kings does not have any alternate training opportunities scheduled.
Also, if you are USSF certified for 2025,please send me proof of certification and you will be permitted to referee for the Kings Soccer Club.
Any person who wants to become a referee must attend a training class, regardless of age or experience level.
